Carlingford
Filling a gap between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic on the east coast, Carlingford Lough is the lesser known end of the Mourne Mountains.
About an hour from Belfast and the same from Dublin you will find Carlingford lough, nestled in the bypassed foothills of the Mourne Mountains. It forms part of the boundary of the ancient counties of Down and Louth, now finding themselves on either side of an international boundary.
The norse name, the fjiord of Carlinn, gives away a part of the history, and gives it something in common with its neighbour Strangford
