Hallowe'en in Lanzarote
The children enjoyed a visit to Fire Mountain and to the seaside. Mummy enjoyed a visit to a dining room where someone else had cooked.
It's true to say that the best tonic for a holiday is another holiday. Surely this is true of a one week autumn break to the Canary Islands. Apartment, pool, beach, dinner formed the daily pattern of relaxation. Life would be wonderful in such a pattern if there was no need to earn or learn.
The Canaries (for we have visited two) are a tourist haven, free from the distractions of "foreign" and "remote". They are every bit as English as they are German and Spanish.
I really enjoyed my stay, and I feel that Claire benefitted from the forced relaxation, but I couldn't make it home.
Visit Lanzarote's caverns, not its mountains, if you have the choice. Wow!
